Mabe Canada Inc.: Safety Notice-Recall of Certain Moffat OTR Microwaves

BURLINGTON, ONTARIO - (CCNMatthews - Dec. 22, 2006) - Mabe Canada Inc., distributor of Moffat branded OTR microwaves in Canada, has announced a voluntary recall of certain Moffat OTR Microwaves. The recall is limited to approximately 1650 OTR microwaves in Canada which were manufactured between February 2006 and April 2006. We are diligently contacting consumers with impacted OTR microwaves to replace the units free of charge. We are committed to doing everything we can to make the replacement as easy and hassle-free for consumers as possible.

The recall includes the following OTR microwaves: Model TVM1635 with serial numbers starting with DL, FL and GL.

These OTR microwaves were manufactured with a defective wiring harness that in rare cases, there is a risk of an electrical short circuit and overheat. We are urging consumers to disconnect the unit from the electrical supply and not use the OTR microwave. Consumers should contact Mabe Service for replacement.

If consumers have one of the recalled OTR microwaves, they are asked to call Mabe Canada's Service Hotline at 1-888-532-5777 to arrange for a free replacement installation. Before calling, consumers are advised to write down the model and serial number of their OTR microwave.
