NACE International Standardizes Certification and Renewal Process

HOUSTON, TX - (CCNMatthews - December 07, 2006) - NACE International announced today the standardization of its fees and renewal periods for all certification levels.

Beginning in January, the renewal fees for NACE certifications are as follows: $140 for Members and $350 for Non-members. The annual maintenance fees formerly required on all Cathodic Protection (CP), Internal Corrosion, all Specialist, and Generalist certifications will be discontinued, and the renewal period for all NACE certifications will be standardized to a three-year period.

NACE International approved these modifications in an effort to simplify the renewal process for all current and prospective certification holders.

NACE also recently made changes to its widely recognized Coating Inspector Program (CIP). The CIP Level 1 and Level 2 designations have been reclassified from "recognized" to "certified." Effective immediately, anyone who currently holds CIP Level 1 or Level 2 recognition, or anyone who completes these courses in the future, will be classified as follows:

-- NACE Coating Inspector Level 1 - Certified
-- NACE Coating Inspector Level 2 - Certified

With the designation changes for CIP Levels 1 and 2, the title for successful completion of the CIP Peer Review has been modified to NACE Certified Coating Inspector - Level 3. The change to the names of these programs reflects the rigorous training and exam requirements existing at each level of the CIP.

Because of the change from recognition status to certification status, professional development hours have been added to the CIP 1, 2, and 3 renewal requirements.

"The demand for NACE training and certification has grown tremendously over the past two years, especially in the International arena," said Tony Keane, NACE Executive Director. "This increasing demand enforced the need to standardize our credentialing process," said Keane.
