Deadline For Legal Action Against The Manufacturers Of Protopic Or Elidel Is Approaching, According To Larry M. Roth

Statutes of limitations vary by state.

LOS ANGELES (EWORLDWIRE) Dec 4, 2006

"If you have been diagnosed with some form of lymphoma (including Non-Hodgkin's and Hodgkin's Disease), leukemia or skin cancer, you may have a case against the manufacturers of Protopic or Elidel," says Laurilyn Cook-Arrington, para-legal at the law offices of Larry M. Roth.

"However, the public must know that these cases are governed by the statute of limitations and every state has different issues," she explains. For example, some states can have a statute of two years - certain statutes might be running out quicker than others. "Be aware that you may be under a very limited time frame that you can file against these drug companies, depending upon where you live."

Another issue is that in some states, the statute of limitations begins to run from the time one is diagnosed with an illness (or suffer an injury) while in other states, the statute begins from the date that one becomes aware that there could be a connection between use of this drug and an illness.

'It is also important to know that, in the last year, there has been a 300 percent increase in reports to the FDA of incidences of malignancies as a result of these two drugs," Laurilyn adds. "It is also important to understand the relationship between these drugs and cancer. Elidel and Protopic are powerful immunosuppresants; once your system is exposed to them, it can no longer function normally."

Protopic, for example, was developed specifically for organ transplant recipients and not for skin problems. But the drug companies found out, through clinical testing, that these drugs also worked successfully on skin conditions and they marketed a life-threatening remedy to a non-life threatening condition such as eczema and atopic dermatitis. However, the studies were not thorough, nor were they conclusive. Currently, thousands of people may have developed a form of cancer as a direct result of taking Protopic or Elidel. Who would ever think that a prescription for a skin rash could cause cancer? Think again.

With these facts in mind, it is in the public's best interest to contact an attorney to have a specific case evaluated as soon as possible.
