Dialogic IP Media Gateways Enable Unified Messaging

Dialogic gateways link legacy PBX's to VoIP based Exchange Server

Dialogic Corporation ("Dialogic"), a global provider of world class products and technologies for media and signal processing, announced today that Microsoft has certified Dialogic IP Media Gateway products for use with the newly released Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 with unified messaging. The addition of unified messaging to Exchange Server 2007 provides a common inbox for e-mail, voice-mail and fax messages, plus access to those messages as well as calendars and contacts from a variety of clients and devices anywhere in the world. Dialogic gateways provide the audio and signalling link between legacy PBX voice systems and the IP based Exchange Server. This enables enterprise customers to deploy the unified messaging features without converting their entire voice infrastructure to an IP based system.

Dialogic and Microsoft worked closely together to certify the interoperability between Exchange Server 2007 and Dialogic gateway products. The Dialogic T1/E1-IP Media Gateway and PBX-IP Media Gateway provide a range of standard PBX interfaces and port densities to enable businesses of all sizes worldwide to take advantage of the unified messaging productivity gains and system efficiency that Exchange Server 2007 can deliver. Dialogic gateways can also work with the majority of the PBXs deployed in enterprises globally, from manufacturers such as Avaya, Nortel, NEC, Siemens, Alcatel, Mitel and others. Configuration templates specific to Microsoft Exchange 2007 are provided for specific PBXs to simplify the installation and integration process.

"IP media gateways are a key ingredient needed to link the enormous installed base of legacy PBX voice infrastructure to the converged voice and data infrastructure where Microsoft Exchange 2007 lives" stated Jim Machi, Vice President of Marketing for Dialogic. "Our gateway portfolio has performed exceedingly well in lab tests and Microsoft's early adopter programs, unlocking the unified messaging benefits of Exchange Server 2007 for enterprises with legacy PBX voice infrastructure."

The Dialogic gateway portfolio includes the T1/E1-IP Media Gateway providing single, dual and quad density T1/E1 PBX connections and a series of PBX-IP Media Gateways providing 8 ports of specific PBX station protocol emulation or analogue FXO connectivity. Basic Rate ISDN BRI-IP Media Gateways providing connectivity for many popular European PBX systems are planned for near-term release and certification as well.

"Dialogic is well known in the industry as a leader in open standards based enterprise messaging solutions. Our gateway portfolio was developed and finely tuned to support media applications such as unified messaging with un-paralleled PBX integration support. It is part of Dialogic DNA to enable market leading communications technologies, so our strategic relationship with Microsoft is a natural fit as they expand Exchange Server to a multi-media messaging platform." states Nick Jensen, CEO of Dialogic.
