Molson Partners with Operation Red Nose to Promote 'Don't Drink and Drive'

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA - (CCNMatthews - Nov. 24, 2006) - Molson will donate over $5,000 to Operation Red Nose (ORN) during its monthly Give-R event Friday, Nov. 24 from 5 to 10 p.m. at Pogue Fado on Barrington Street. The donation will also include money raised during the event itself.

"We are proud to partner with ORN as part of our commitment to responsible drinking," says Strat Kane, Vice President, Market Development, Atlantic for Molson. "Molson has been a strong proponent of responsible drinking since 1989 - longer than any other company in Canada."

"With the help of partners like Molson, our service has grown and is now available in six communities in the Maritimes," says Corinne MacLellan, Regional Coordinator for ORN. "We look forward to growing the Operation Red Nose Service to serve even more communities in the coming years."

ORN is a unique program dedicated to preventing drinking and driving. It is a volunteer driving service provided during the Holiday Season to all drivers who have either been drinking or do not feel fit to drive their vehicle. The service is free of charge.

The service could not have been extended throughout the Maritimes without the help of hundreds of volunteer teams. The teams are comprised of three volunteers who provide a simple, accessible, and free way to get home safe. Last year, more than 1,600 Maritimers donned a red vest as a volunteer for ORN. Those interested in volunteering should visit the ORN website at www.operationrednose.com and fill out an application.

GIVE-R brings urban professionals together in a social networking environment to raise money for various local charitable organizations in the city of Halifax. Celebrating its second year, Molson Give-R events have raised over $16,000 for various HRM charities including the United Way, Big Brothers, Big Sisters and Feed Nova Scotia.
