Night Watch: TAHAB - A grenade was thrown and exploded in the middle of a crown outside the mosque Jamia Masjid in the Tahab village of Pulwama district in Kashmir, south Asia's flashpoint. They had gathered just before Friday prayers and had already begun chanting slogans following the arrival of the spritual leader Maulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi, the head of Saut-ul Awila. He was injured in the explosion along with 60 others. Six people were killed and the crowd went on a rampage afterward. Reports that the grenade thrower was captured by the police are unconfirmed. [

In a related incident a major, crowded street, Hari Singh High Street, in the center of Srinagar was also subject to a grenade attack by unidentified militants timed just before the arrival of the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. Several people were injured. There were also armed incidents in Ganderhal and Pampore.
What is significant is that no militant group has taken responsibility and for obvious reasons. None would want to admit attacking a crowd outside a mosque just before Friday prayers. This is Tehran's attempt to create an atmosphere of religious tension and hatred on the same scale as the explosion at the Shi'te mosque in Samarra, Iraq in February. It was Tehran's way of causing the sectarian war still raging in and around Baghdad to continue to undermine the Washington led occupation. With Tehran having completed military preparations and staging wargames all year, they are now ready to do the same in India occupied Kashmir. I also suspected Iran of having caused the explosion at the mosque in Malegaon in September and that they were also involved in the Mumbai explosions on July 11.

With Tehran specializing in causing attacks on religious sites and gatherings, both Hindu and Muslim and with Islamabad continuing to arm and train Islamic liberation-militant units, as they have since November 1989, the beginning of the Islamic uprising, the strategy now seems to be to force Delhi to use its "hot pursuit" policy and attack the militant bases inside Pakistan's part of Kashmir, setting off the fourth major war on the subcontinent since their independence in 1947.
According to Brigadier Bhonsle's latest projection, security developments for November and after, "militancy and infiltration trends in Kashmir indicate a possible increase in terrorist activities during winter." That breaks the annual, seasonal pattern of Islamic groups usually being less active during the winter. [SECURITYRISKS]
