Kingman, Ariz. Suspect Found Not Guilty Of Raping 17-Year Old, Reports Criminal Defense Associates

Criminal Defense Associates, headquartered in Woodland Hills, Calif., renowned for its unique approach to defending clients charged with sexually-based crimes announced that after a grueling trial in Kingman, Ariz., that its client was exonerated by a jury, of the charge of sexual assault. Criminal Defense Associateas client was facing a sentence of 5 to 14 years in State Prison and a lifetime of registration as a sexual predator had he been convicted. The jury hearing the case involving allegations of forced sexual assault in Lake Havasu City found the defendant not guilty. The defendant was accused of forcing sex on a teenage girl, who is now 17 years old, at a party following high school graduation on May 29, 2005.

Greg McPhillips, assistant Mohave County Attorney and lead prosecutor for the State in this case, argued to the jury during his closing argument that the defendant had forced sex upon the accuser. Criminal Defense Associates' attorneys Lisa McCamey and Evan Zelig vigorously attacked the prosecutionas case and destroyed the prosecutionas theory of forced sex, by proving that the sex was consensual and not forced. Based upon that finding, the jury found the defendant not guilty. It took only two hours of deliberations for the jury to find that the charges were, in fact, baseless and to exonerate the defendant.
