Toronto Maple Leaf Stars Hit the Big Screen on Leafs TV in High Definition for the First Time at Select Cineplex Entertainment Theatres

TORONTO, ONTARIO - (CCNMatthews - Oct. 25, 2006) - Cineplex Entertainment (CGX.UN) and the Toronto Maple Leafs are pleased to announce for the first time the arrival of Leafs games on the big screen at twenty-five participating theatre locations in the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario.

"Cineplex Entertainment is all about bringing our guests more than just movies," says Pat Marshall, Vice President Communications and Investor Relations for Cineplex Entertainment. "Showing the Toronto Maple Leafs games exclusively on our big screen at our theatres is a great idea that audiences and Leafs fans will love. This is the ultimate entertainment experience for sports fans next to actually being at the game."

Beginning November 2, 2006, Toronto Maple Leaf fans will have something to cheer about as they enjoy the Toronto Maple Leafs versus the Florida Panthers game, a Leafs TV broadcast live on giant wall-to-wall curved screens in Dolby Digital Surround Sound and in High Definition (HDTV).

"Watching Darcy Tucker deliver a body check or Mats Sundin score a goal on a 50 foot movie screen in High-Definition gives fans the feeling they are inches from the ice. We're excited to work with Cineplex Entertainment to provide Leafs fans an extension of a great sports experience in a theatre environment," said Chris Hebb, Senior Vice-President of Broadcast for Leafs TV. "Broadcasting Leafs TV games in Cineplex Entertainment theatres let's viewers sample the benefits of HDTV and Leafs TV programming."

For $10.95 a ticket or less, family and friends can spend an affordable night out together watching the games.

Community involvement is a core value of the Leafs and it is also an important component in how Cineplex Entertainment operates its theatres. As a result, $1 from every Toronto Maple Leafs game ticket sold will be donated to The Captains' Fund. The Captains' Fund provides bursaries to young hockey players to help offset the registration costs for minor hockey programs. The Fund is committed to ensuring the future of minor hockey remains strong. Leafs legends and former team captains Darryl Sittler, Wendel Clark and Rick Vaive serve as the Fund's ambassadors.

Fans in attendance at Cineplex Entertainment theatres will be treated to the ultimate fan experience with Leafs alumni and mascot appearances, prizes, trivia and giveaways at select theatres.

All seven Leafs games shown in Cineplex theatres will be Leafs TV broadcasts. Leafs TV is the official station of Leafs Nation and the hockey fan's number one source for the latest team news and information with favourite programs such as Leafs Today, Game Day, broadcast an hour before each game and After The Horn.
