EDMONTON, ALBERTA - (CCNMatthews - Oct. 24, 2006) - Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (TSX:RBA)(NYSE:RBA), the world's largest auctioneer of industrial equipment, will be holding a large, two-day, multi-million dollar unreserved industrial auction at its permanent auction site in Edmonton, Alberta on Thursday, October 26 and Friday, October 27, 2006. It will be the greatest number of auction lots ever sold at an Edmonton Ritchie Bros. auction.
"We will be breaking an Edmonton record for the most items sold in one of our auctions - we will have more than 3,200 lots that will be sold to the highest bidders during this two-day auction," said Brian Glenn, Regional Manager for Ritchie Bros. "There will be a tremendous selection of items in the auction, including a large quantity of late-model equipment, trucks, and even real estate."
The trucks and equipment in the auction come from various owners around the region, including Northstar Trucking Ltd., Reinhart Oilfield Services, Westridge Sand & Gravel Ltd., and C&W Contracting. The real estate in the auction includes farmland in the County of Camrose, as well as a 119 +/- Acres riverfront recreation property on the Athabasca River, and 24 +/- Acres in Parkland County (off Hwy 44, next to the Deer Meadows Golf Course).
The auction is unreserved, meaning that items will sell to the highest bidder regardless of price. There are no minimum bids or reserve prices.
"It's the competitive bidding process from the crowd on auction day that will determine the prices," said Glenn.
Interested bidders are able to go to the Ritchie Bros. Edmonton auction site on auction day or they can also bid live and online during the auction, using the rbauctionBid-Live tool on the Company's web site.
