C Co., 2/27th Inf. Visits local village
RIYADH, Iraq - Soldiers from C Company, 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment conducted an initial assessment in a nearby village. The Soldiers were provided a guided tour through the village by the muktar, a position similar to a town mayor.
According to some villagers it was the first interaction between Coalition Forces and local officials in several months.
Iraqi Army and Police Public Affairs Training
KIRKUK, Iraq - The training between U.S. and Iraqi organizations is not just security focused, but also includes infrastructure, health care, logistics, communications, and emergency response units.
In the communications realm, Maj. Derrick Cheng, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division Public Affairs Officer, trains the public affairs leaders of the Iraqi Army, Police, and Fire Department weekly. The training focuses on news products, media relations and how to better disseminate information to the people of Kirkuk.
NOC Pipeline Repair
KIRKUK, Iraq - Work continued in the western part of the Kirkuk province Oct. 11 on a new oil pipeline that will significantly increase Iraq's oil production.
The National Oil Company, with support from the Iraqi Army and 25th Infantry Division Soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, worked to fix a bad weld found after x-raying the pipeline, said Capt. Daniel Blackmon, battalion operations officer.
