Runners are invited to celebrate their achievement and register for the 2007 event

QUANTICO, VA - For the first time, the Marine Corps Marathon will open registration at the MCM Post Race Party on Sunday, October 29 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill. The first 500 medal-wearing 31st MCM finishers are invited to re-up and receive guaranteed entry into the 2007 race. Additionally, the first 100 motivated non-2006 runners can enlist in the 2007 race as well.

"The MCM is recognized as a great race for beginners, but also a great race to run again and again," said Rick Nealis, MCM Race Director. "For those motivated by the incredible experience of the Marine Corps Marathon, we are offering the first steps towards next year's finish line."

Runners, along with their family, friends and supporters are invited to the free MCM Post Race Party featuring food and drink for purchase, live party music from the 18-piece Marine Corps Base Quantico band, video highlights and a photo slide show of the 2006 MCM. A Cisco Check Your Runner station will be available to view live results with other MCM finishers. Commemorative gear and apparel will be for sale at the Brooks MCM Finisher Store.

The 2007 entry fee is $75, a savings of more than $10 over this year's event.

Voted "Best Marathon for Families" by HerSports Magazine, the Marine Corps Marathon continues a combined tradition of dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism. Since its inception, over 300,000 civilian and military runners from all walks of life have participated, deservingly earning the event its nickname "The People's Marathon."
