Gay leaders throw second fundraiser to help Green Sec. of State candidate premiere Run Forrest Run TV ads statewide

SAN FRANCISCO - Several leaders of the Gay community are holding a fundraiser at the Stud Bar in San Francisco to support Green Party candidate Dr. Forrest Hill's bid to become California's next Secretary of State.

The fundraiser, scheduled for October 12 (399 9th Street, San Francisco), is the second of three large fundraisers planned by a coalition of Gay and Green Party leaders in San Francisco to support Dr. Hill's campaign.

The event is being co-hosted by Joey Cain, former President of the San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee; Terry Baum, Lesbian Playwright and San Francisco Political Activist; Phil Walker, Host of TV show "Out and Beyond" and former legal columnist for Genre Magazine; a Co-host of the Gay Talk Show Queer Channel on KQKE 960 AM; and Krissy Keefer, Executive Artistic Director of Dance Brigade and Green Party candidate for Congress.

The event is sponsored by attorneys Colin Gallagher, former candidate for San Francisco's 13th Assembly District, and Steven Jimenez of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Money raised from last months Gay, Green fundraiser has allowed the Forrest Hill's campaign to begin running thier TV ad "Run Forrest Run" in the Bay Area.

The campaign plans to use the money raised at the Stud event to air their ad in Southern California and the Sacramento Area.

The ad, which can be seen in a NewsBlaze story, features shots of Forrest running up San Francisco's Twin Peaks, by Oakland's Lake Merritt, along the Altamont Pass, and through downtown Sacramento. It ends with the tag line "Forrest won't stop running until we have free and fair elections."

Dr. Hill, who has a PhD. from MIT and is the only openly gay candidate seeking 'statewide' office, said it was an honor to have the support of Gays and Greens in San Francisco.

"We still have a long ways to go before we have a multi-party democracy in California," said Hill. "San Francisco has always been at the fore-front of change, and is the place where the dark age of two-party rule is beginning to crumble."

Dr. Hill is running to give voters more choices, to make sure that all citizens can vote and all votes are accurately counted, and to reform our electoral system so people no longer feel forced to vote for the lesser of two evils.
