LAS VEGAS, Nev. (EWORLDWIRE) Sep 28, 2006
Contenders will fight inside a 20 foot octagon cage, giving fans a thrilling performance by some of the world's best martial artists and athletes. Mixed Martial Arts World Champion, Jermaine Andre', will return to fight in the cage for the main event. He has some "Unfinished business ... It's great to be fighting in my home town. This show will be a Las Vegas style, quality production. The audience will get every penny of their money's worth," said Andre. Andre' recently competed on a pay-per-view broadcast.
In addition to fighting performances, the upcoming event will offer an array of other entertainment to delight the crowd. The evening will feature a live performance by St. Louis' own American Idol(TM) finalist, Nikko Smith , an elaborate light show, gigantic TV screens and dancing girls. The production is being recorded live for distribution on an upcoming syndicated series.
Mixed Martial Art fighting is a distinctive and controversial sport because it's fought inside a cage with very limited rules. Challengers are allowed to strike each other with their hands, feet, knees and elbows. They can also fight on the ground, using submission locks and chokes.
"It presents a very exciting challenge between martial artists who are not afraid to showcase their abilities," said Andre', whose professional record includes 19 knockouts and a host of titles. "This type of sport is now the fastest growing sport in the world, and we will be the first to bring it to this area on a world-class level. It is very exciting and the athletes who participate in this type of event are the most physically fit athletes in any amateur or professional sport."
Muay Thai kick boxing will also take place inside the cage. This form of kick boxing from Thailand is a stand-up style of fighting in which participants use their fists, elbows, knees and feet. This competition was originally banned in the U.S. and later replaced by American kick boxing.
"This event will be programmed with performances that promise to keep the flow of entertainment going," Andre said. "We promise to provide a night of excitement ... with some of the world's best fighters who will be performing at their best."
