Crossfire War - TEHRAN WATCH - West Asia Theatre: Tehran - Ramallah - Beirut - Damascus/Jerusalem; Victory in Destruction - Iran - Syria Re-Activate West Bank Terrorists - IDF Remains on High State of Readiness along Syrian Border

Night Watch: RAMALLAH - Victory in destruction seems to have been the theme and pattern set by Hezbollah as a result of its month long war with Israel. The million size rally in Beirut was all the proof Tehran-Damascus needed as justification for supporting Hezbollah and having them attack. It has raised the status of Sheik Hassan Nasrallah almost to the level of a deity, the new leading light. Both governments know that a lot of those who attended the rally were not supporters of Hezbollah before. Tehran-Damascus cannot ignore the psycho-spritual impact on the Islamic masses, it is just as they intended and they intend to use it, not for peace, but for continued destruction and not just in Beirut. [DEBKA]

If in the next wave of war Damascus experiences the same level of destruction as Beirut or more, fine, it will be praised, Tehran-Damacus and the Islamic Axis they are at the center of, is just that death oriented. Israeli cities will also be hit harder than during the first wave, not to mention major cities in the West which Tehran loves to portray as supporters of Israel and therefore justify the destruction the West will experience. European forces now occupying Lebanon, through UNIFIL, will add weight to Iran's propaganda.

Every Islamic government all over West Asia and beyond also took notice of Hezbollah-Nasrallah's new prominence and will therefore be more inclined to support the next wave of hatred. The one exception is Cairo because of Egypt President Hosni Mubarak who has always hated Islamic radicalism since they assassinated his predecessor Anwar Sadat in 1981.

As a result, and in preparation for the next round of fighting, Tehran-Damascus have increased the Palestinian terrorist threat from the West Bank. Debka reports that as Qassam rockets continued to be fired from Gaza at Sederot and other Israeli towns in the south, Israel Defense Forces (IDF), have prevented 10 terrorist- suicide attacks in the past two weeks, all of them originating from the West Bank.

The West Bank was largely silent during Jerusalem's month long war, but Tehran-Damascus can obviously use action and threats from the West Bank to stretch IDF forces thinner when the war resumes. This time the war can be started from the West Bank instead of Gaza - Hezbollah - Lebanon. Tehran-Damascus will also use the West Bank front as a spiritual magnet to attract the thousands of Islamic fanatics who are obsessed with "liberating" the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem even though Islamic worshippers can go there.

In the meantime Israeli forces along the Syrian border remain on a high state of readiness along the Golan Heights, the latest sense of mission obsession of Syria President Bashar al-Assad, who has allowed himself to be caught up in the current hysteria. Tehran find such senses of mission as very strategic. Supporting these obsessions is Tehran's way of manipulating heads of state as they manipulate populations. An example of Iran's expert use of availability. Those who are available constantly present themselves to you. With European units in UNIFIL under the control of Tehran-Damascus, through Beirut, and therefore unable to do anything except watch, the re-arming and re- supplying of Hezbollah has continued without disruption. Fighting can erupt on any of a number of these fronts around Israel at any time.

This time Syria - Iran are prepared to join it and both governments intend to use the next wave of war to generate even more Islamic radicalism than during the previous limited war that was a prelude to the next one. During the next conflict its wave of support will remove the obstinate Mubarak. It will also increase the popularity of Damascus-Tehran just as the first wave of fighting established and increased Hezbollah's political power base. As with Hezbollah, Tehran-Damascus will also see victory in destruction.

Perhaps it was actually the continued destruction in Baghdad that set the pattern, where London-Washington are pursuing their senseless sense of mission accomplished.
