Visto Identifies Mobile Email Market Tipping Point

New Easy Setup simplifies mobile email experience to increase mass adoption; rounds out Visto's three-dimensional approach to the mobile email business

Redwood City, Calif., September 11, 2006: Visto, the leading global provider of secure push email to the enterprise market, today launched a solution to overcome the final barrier to mass adoption of mobile business email.

Easy Setup is a new, out-of-the-box solution designed to automate the installation, provisioning and deployment of mobile email. Easy Setup is part of Visto Mobile 5.5 and provides wireless operators, enterprises and end users alike with an easier way to setup, use, manage and deliver mobile email.

With market analysts predicting more than 100 million enterprise mobile email users by 2009 - a 10-fold increase on today's numbers - Visto says that the ease with which mobile email can be deployed and used is crucial to the realisation of the market's growth potential.

"While many mobile professionals have an email-capable mobile device, the vast majority aren't yet comfortable using that capability," said Stephen Drake, program director at IDC. "Three factors need to come together to turn the tide and spur the mobile email market into a new phase of growth: comfort with the level of security; a wide choice of devices; and ease-of-use - both for the users and the administrators provisioning the service. In my view, ease of use is the key requirement to begin to spur broader adoption for the enterprise mobile email market."

Feedback from Visto's customers - including many of the world's leading mobile carriers - similarly identified data security, choice of handset and service, and ease of installation and use, as the three key dimensions of mobile email adoption. Again, the third dimension - ease-of-use - is seen as the key factor for success in driving mass adoption and Visto's new Easy Setup solution has been developed specifically to meet this market need.

"To date, adoption of mobile email has been stalled by complexity," said Visto Chairman, President and CEO Brian Bogosian. "We've listened to our customers and understood that implementing a mobile email service fuelled by subscriber requirements is the fastest route to achieving mass-market adoption. With Visto Mobile, busy professionals have a mobile email service that is easy to setup and use, available on all of the sleek and sexy business-ready handsets on the market today and secure from end-to-end."

The new Easy Setup feature addresses ease-of-use concerns by simplifying the configuration process for devices and improving the user setup process as well. Easy Setup includes a new on-screen "Smart Icon" integrated directly into the device, which when used, automatically and effortlessly installs Visto Mobile onto the handset. The end-user enjoys a smooth, streamlined configuration process, which minimises the number of screens and keystrokes required to get up and running on mobile email.

Easy Setup is now part of Visto Mobile 5.5, the platform supported by some of the world's largest mobile operators.
