Logicalis Counsels Haringey With Five Year Managed Services Contract

  Share With Friends

Slough, 7th September, 2006: London's Haringey Council has signed a two year managed services contract with Logicalis, aimed at delivering maximum performance from the Council's existing IT infrastructure and achieving optimum value for expenditure on an ongoing basis. The contract includes an optional three year extension following the successful completion of the first two years.

Under the terms of the contract Logicalis will manage the Council's networks, security and physical data centres, and work in partnership with the Council to manage its operational environments enabling access to essential business and IT services for Haringey's 7,500 employees and 225,000 residents. The deal includes proactive monitoring and operations support for the Council's local (LAN) and wide (WAN) area networks spanning 70 sites across the borough, management of it's Demilitarized Zones (DMZs) and firewalls, anti-virus protection, and secure remote access for council staff.

Logicalis will also provide management and operational support for the Council's physical data centre environments. In addition to a dedicated on-site team it will provide 24/7 remote management and monitoring of the Council's 400 network devices and 350 servers from one of its Managed Service Centres (MSC) at its UK headquarters in Slough, Berkshire.

According to Haringey Council, the decision to award the contract to Logicalis was based on its proven ability to deliver complex integrated managed services mapped to executive and strategic goals.

Lidia Lewis, Head of IT Services, Haringey Council, said "Working with Logicalis we are confident we can achieve a more secure, reliable ICT environment, increasing network performance and service availability and maximising the return on investment from our existing IT infrastructure."

Rob Hales, Client Manager, Logicalis commented "Logicalis is working with Haringey to manage its IT expenditure on an ongoing basis. Our aim is to ensure very best value for Haringey's spend on IT while still providing staff and residents with the high quality of services they require. A commitment of this nature gives Haringey the luxury of predictable budgeting and perhaps, most importantly, ensures IT service evolves with the needs of the council and can be optimised in response to changing ICT goals.

The managed services contract builds on Logicalis' existing relationship with Haringey council which started in May 2004, and is one of the most comprehensive managed service offerings implemented by Logicalis to date.

The company is fast building a reputation as a leader in the provision of ICT services to public sector bodies and has recently won contracts with Lewisham Primary Care Trust, Preston City Council and Anglia Ruskin University.
