'California Connected' Surprisingly Discovers Bullfighting in Central California
By Alan Gray, NewsBlaze
TORO! TORO! TORO!
North of the border with Mexico, California Connected uncovers bullfighting in a surprising location, the town of Gustine located in California's Central Valley.
Though bullfighting has been banned in California since the 1950s, the state's Portuguese community lobbied for and received a special exemption, if the fights are coupled with religious events.
Fans in the thousands attend the state's bloodless version of the sport featuring Spanish and Portuguese style matadors as well as the ever-popular "Suicide Squads."
