'California Connected' Travels South of The Border to Witness The Baja Boom
By Alan Gray, NewsBlaze
California Connected anchor Lisa McRee travels to the latest "California gold rush" - this one south of the border and known as the "Baja Boom."
Since the Mexican government changed its laws to allow greater ownership of land in Mexico by Americans, a reverse migration with record numbers of Californians buying land in Mexico has occurred. Some baby boomers are buying up land as investments, while some are relocating from cities like San Diego.
Whatever the motivation, the Baja Boom is having a profound effect on Mexican communities like Rosarito. At the same time, some wonder whether Mexico's fragile coastal infrastructure can survive this onslaught of Americans.
