Cape Clear Software Appoints Katherine Barnhisel as VP Marketing

Former BEA Executive Brings 16+ Years of Strategic Marketing Experience to Leading ESB Provider

WALTHAM, Mass.-September 5th, 2006- Cape Clear Software, a leading provider of Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) solutions to enable Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), today announced that it has appointed Katherine Barnhisel as vice president of marketing. Barnhisel will be responsible for driving the company's corporate and product marketing strategies including positioning, messaging, and demand creation, as well as for continuing to develop its channel partner programme.

"Katherine's success with field marketing and developer relations at BEA, as well as her extensive start-up experience with NetDynamics and WebLogic, make her well-equipped to drive Cape Clear's strategic marketing programmes," said Jeffrey Read, president and COO of Cape Clear. "We look forward to leveraging her deep understanding of market positioning, communications, and her ability to create demand to propel Cape Clear even further ahead of the competition."

Barnhisel joins Cape Clear with broad experience in the infrastructure software market. She was director of marketing for WebLogic until its acquisition by BEA Systems (NASDAQ: BEAS) in October 1998, joining BEA as vice president of marketing for the BEA WebXpress division. Once WebXpress was integrated into BEA, she held several senior management positions within BEA where her accomplishments included building the BEA developer program, BEA dev2dev, from the ground up, and managing BEA's Americas field marketing.

Prior to joining WebLogic, Barnhisel held various marketing and technical positions at NetDynamics, Visa International, Citibank, and Arthur Andersen. Most recently, Barnhisel was vice president of marketing for Embarcadero Technologies (NASDAQ: EMBT).

"Cape Clear reminds me of WebLogic in 1997 - an agnostic player with the industry-leading technology in a market on the verge of exploding," commented Barnhisel. "What's more, Cape Clear has one of the most seasoned and driven executive teams of any start-up out there. I'm thrilled to be a part of it!"

During her first few weeks with the company, Barnhisel was quick to capitalise on Cape Clear's existing momentum, including its recognition as an industry leader by both Gartner and Forrester Research. According to the June 2006 Gartner Dataquest Application Integration Middleware report, Cape Clear is the market share leader in North America with 18.9 percent of the ESB market. Forrester concludes that "Cape Clear Continues to Lead the ESB Market."

Barnhisel holds two bachelor's degrees from the University of California, San Diego, and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
