100 Poker Players Will Compete to Become Everest Poker's First Ever European Poker Champion

MONTREAL, Canada - Aug. 24 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Everest Poker will crown the first amateur European Poker Champion at the finale of The Everest Poker European Poker Championship (EPEC) on Saturday 9th September 2006 in the Casino Barcelona, Spain.

One hundred poker players beat out over 20,000 participants in live and online competitions running across Europe since March. These poker players won a chance to represent their country at the championship and received a (Euro)900 prize package including travel expenses to Barcelona. The finale will pit country against country to become Everest Poker's European Champion for 2006 with the top 18 players sharing the (Euro)50,000 prize pool.

This is the first poker competition for amateur poker players that has run throughout Europe. It was organized by Everest Poker in cooperation with local poker federations, casinos, and poker rooms. The event was unusual in that it was targeted at amateurs and was a free-roll in which players did not have to pay an entry fee to participate. Players competed for the opportunity to represent their country in the Everest Poker European Championship and ultimately win the title of European Poker Champion as well as a share in the final prize pool donated by Everest Poker.
