AusCERT: Top Selling Anti-Virus Solutions Let In 80% of New Malicious Code

New sales awards for Wick Hill from Kaspersky show there is still growth for some suppliers in the anti-virus market

Release from Wick Hill, Woking, Surrey: 16th August 06 - Top selling anti-virus solutions let in 80% of new malicious code, while Russian vendor Kaspersky keeps out 90%, according to Australia's Computer Emergency Response Team (AusCERT).*

Graham Ingram, the general manager of AusCERT, made it clear, however, that the reason for the top selling solutions letting in so much new malware was nothing to do with the quality of the products, but was because malware authors were specifically testing their trojans and viruses to make sure they could bypass these popular solutions before releasing them in the wild. Ingram specifically named Kasperksy as one solution which actually kept out 90% of new malicious code in the same tests.

Ian Kilpatrick, chairman Wick Hill Group, the major Kaspersky distributor in the UK and Germany, commented: "For companies committed to using different anti-virus engines at the gateway and on the desktop, to maximise their protection, Kasperky's high block rate makes it a prime choice. Kaspersky's consistently good results in testing have been a major factor behind the spectacular sales growth that we have achieved with them in Germany and the UK."

New sales awards for Wick Hill show the benefits of partnering with Kasperksy
Leading Kasperksy distributor Wick Hill has won two international awards for sales from Kaspersky Lab at Kaspersky's Internal Partner Conference held recently in Athens.

The first award, picked up by Wick Hill for UK sales, was for the fastest growth in distribution during 2005, with Wick Hill being the only UK partner to pick up an award at the conference. Wick Hill beat off other distributors in Europe to win the award. The second award came thanks to Wick Hill's Hamburg office, which pocketed the award for the best performing distributor in Germany Austria and Switzerland in 2005.

Ian Kilpatrick, chairman Wick Hill Group, the major Kaspersky distributor in the UK and Germany, commented: "We moved to distributing Kaspersky in the UK after the exceptional success we had with the product in Germany, where our sales volumes won us the fastest growth in distribution award for 2004. The significant sales growth we have had with Kaspersky anti-virus solutions this last year in the UK is based on the excellent technical features of the product such as Spyware and Zero Day Protection, and on the speed of the threat response."
