Chick-fil-A's Signature Lemonade Adds SPLENDA(R) No Calorie Sweetener for Fresh-Squeezed "A-Peel"

There's no secret to Chick-fil-A's lemonade
recipes -- lemons, water and sweeteners. The secret lies in successfully
maintaining this made-from-scratch blend. Since Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A
introduced Freshly-Squeezed Chick-fil-A® Lemonade in 1977, it has become
a signature item of the restaurant chain and a favorite among Chick-fil-A's
raving fans.
Today, Chick-fil-A Lemonade continues to be one of the most frequently
ordered drink items on the menu. To further accommodate customer tastes,
Chick-fil-A also offers a diet version in addition to the classic
Chick-fil-A Lemonade recipe. Beginning this summer, the newest change to
Chick-fil-A Lemonade products will be the addition of SPLENDA® No Calorie
Sweetener to the Diet Lemonade recipe.
"We have continued to work with our original recipe in order to maintain
our high quality throughout the years," said Chick-fil-A Dietitian Jodie
Worrell. "Not only are we proud to start a relationship with the SPLENDA®
Brand, but we feel our customers will appreciate our continued commitment
to using premium sugar substitutes in our Diet Lemonade recipe."
Chick-fil-A's Lemonade is such a customer favorite that the chain, which
operates more than 1,250 restaurants in 37 states and Washington D.C.,
freshly squeezes nearly 71 million lemons each year, making it one of the
nation's largest purchasers of fresh lemons outside of grocery chains. In
addition to complementing the chain's various menu items, freshly squeezing
lemons means a medium glass of Chick-fil-A Lemonade provides customers with
35 percent of their recommended daily allowance of Vitamin C.
"Our fresh-squeezed technique and quality ingredients really do make the
difference for our customers," said Woody Faulk, vice president of brand
development for Chick-fil-A. "Our customers know that when they order any
variety of Chick-fil-A Lemonade, they will be drinking water, fresh lemons,
and a sweetener like SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener in our signature
blends and nothing else. You can't improve the taste of our basic lemonade
recipe, and we will continue to service our customers with that kind of
excellent quality."
