Delta Offers Additional Staff and Passenger Tips to Help Ease Travel Through Heightened Security Procedures

Airline waives fees for one-time ticket change for U.K. Travel

ATLANTA, Aug. 10, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Delta Air Lines today increased staffing and offered recommendations to customers to help ease travel as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) implemented special security procedures for all flights in response to the Department of Homeland Security-issued threat level of Orange for all commercial aviation in the U.S. and Red for all flights from the United Kingdom to the U.S.

Delta has increased staffing levels in many airports to assist customers with checked baggage, re-booking needs and elevated security procedures. Delta's flight schedule is operating normally.

Delta continues to work closely with the TSA on measures to protect the safety and security of our passengers and crew. Passengers are not permitted to bring any liquids, gels or lotions in their carry-on baggage through screening checkpoints or onto any flight. On flights from the U.K. to the U.S., no carry-on baggage is permitted.

To assist our customers during this time, Delta offers the following tips:

-- Arrive three hours early at the airport for your flight.
TSA screening lines may be longer than usual and additional
screening is being conducted at the gate. Passengers can visit
delta.com to check for updates on flight schedules and airport
    wait times.
-- Place liquids (including beverages, shampoo, sun tan lotion,
creams, tooth paste, hair gel and items of similar consistency)
in your checked baggage. Customers are encouraged to check all
    baggage.
-- Exceptions are made for baby formula and medicines -- be prepared
to present these for inspection at the checkpoint.

Customers who are scheduled to travel Aug. 10 - Sept. 1, 2006, to, from or through the U.K. on Delta, Delta Connection(R), or Delta-coded flights, may make a one-time ticket change without penalty or additional fees if tickets are changed by Aug. 13, 2006. Within these timeframes, customers may fly on alternate dates without penalty, and those whose flights are cancelled may request refunds.

Changes to origins and destinations may result in a fare increase, and any fare difference between the original and new ticket will be collected at the time of rebooking.

In light of the unfolding situation, Delta Air Lines will continue to review ticketing changes and policies as new information becomes available.
