Technology goliath Motorola Inc. recently introduced into the mobile phone market new cutting-edge thin handsets plus new advances in color, material and finish.

In a press release announcing the new products, Motorola said that the MOTOKRZR (pronounced "krazer") and MOTORIZR (pronounced "riser") handsets, along with their matching Bluetooth headsets, the H601 and H800 epitomize Motorola's design viewpoint in every aspect.

The release describes the MOTOKRZR as reaching and exceeding the MOTORAZR's measure of slenderness, with more than a centimeter taken off of its width. It weighs in at 103g, measures 42 x 103 x 16mm and comes with a 262,000-color TFT screen.

The new handset displays understated style through a metallic polished surface and glass detailing. The glass on the front of the MOTOKRZR is a technological first for such a large scale, mobile product.

The new handset is offered in the standard global system for mobile communications (GSM) and code division multiple access (CDMA), a system that allows the user to access multiple outlets without dividing the communication channel by time or frequency.

The GSM MOTOKRZR includes a high resolution 2.0 mega pixel camera, stereo Bluetooth audio, a modernized phone directory and new messaging functions. While both versions offer integrated music players and expandable memory up to 1GB, the CDMA MOTOKRZR possess touch-sensitive music controls, advanced Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) data services and resources.

Combining a ground-breaking slider motif with a variety of feature settings to choose from, the MOTORIZR comes with almost identical features to the MOTOKRZR, plus new functionality. This slider alleviates the task of on the move imaging with its landscape display, 2.0 mega pixel camera and programmed keys. The built-in music player and video capacities also provide a variety of innovative formats.

"As we set one industry milestone, we're instantly focused on delivering the next. With MOTOKRZR and MOTORIZR we've achieved a new combination of thin and rich, honoring our commitment to design while adding new form factors and additional features," said Ron Garriques, President of Mobile Devices at Motorola.

Mirroring the images of the new handsets' designs, the Motorola H601 and H800 Bluetooth headsets bring about improvements in talk time, sound clarity, advanced finishes and graphics. Influenced by MOTOKRZR, the Motorola H601 is fashionable and practical, offering the best possible comfort. The Motorola H800 introduces a one-of-a-kind sliding system, emulating the MOTORIZR.

Motorola expresses that the handsets are planned to be available globally by the end of the third quarter or beginning of the fourth quarter this year. Although no established pricing was publicized, they are projected to cost about the same as the MOTORAZR.
