Weaver Named SVP of Atlantic Records

Kevin Weaver has been promoted to the new
position of Senior Vice President of Atlantic Records. The announcement
was made this week by Atlantic Chairman/CEO Craig Kallman and President
Julie Greenwald, to whom he reports. Weaver, who is based at the company's
Los Angeles office, was most recently Senior Vice President of Strategic
Marketing and Soundtracks for the company's Lava division.
Weaver oversees the placement of Atlantic-affiliated music and artists
across all visual media -- including film, television and video games -- as
well as being responsible for developing soundtrack projects, strategic
alliances, licensing opportunities, and marketing initiatives. In this
role, he works closely with film and TV studios and production companies.
"It is our mission to get Atlantic music into as many places as possible,"
said Julie Greenwald, "and Kevin is a master at identifying and developing
great opportunities for our artists to be seen and heard. He is incredibly
tenacious and has great relationships with the TV and film communities.
Craig and I are happy to announce Kevin's much-deserved new post with the
Atlantic family."
"After ten years with Warner Music Group, I am pleased and excited to begin
another chapter of my life working with Craig, Julie, and Lyor [Cohen],"
said Kevin Weaver. "Their great passion for our business and their total
commitment to artist development has infected me with more zeal and love
for what I do. I look forward to working with them to open up new
opportunities for our artists and their music."
Weaver began his music career in 1994 at the Los Angeles office of Atlantic
Records as Coordinator of A&R/Multimedia. The following year, he moved to
the company's newly established Lava label, where he spearheaded the
development of soundtrack projects. Weaver took a break from his Lava
career in 1996, when he left the label to serve as Executive in Charge of
A&R/Soundtracks at Tommy Boy Music. Following a series of Lava A&R
consultancy projects, Weaver formally returned to the label in 1999 as
Director of A&R/Soundtracks, followed by promotions to Senior Director and
Vice President. In 2003, he became the label's Senior Vice President of
Strategic Marketing and Soundtracks.
