Olympus Pacific Minerals officially commissioned the its first starter gold processing plant at its Bong Mieu property in April this year, the first modern plant in Vietnam since the French ceased mining the area in the early 1940's. The modular starter plant, which incorporates new technology was manufactured by Gekko Australia Pty., and has a rated capacity of 500 tpd with provisions to raise capacity to 800 tpd.; the plant was built within budget for $US 5.5M. Olympus' goal is to continue to step up its exploration programs at Bong Mieu and the Phuoc Son properties. Eighteen months after completion of the current Phuoc Son feasibility study, the company will construct its second gold processing plant for start up in early 2008.
