PlanGraphics Supporting City of Raleigh's GIS Emergency Operations

The City of Raleigh, N.C., has selected
PlanGraphics, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: PGRA) to support the city's geographic
information system (GIS) emergency operations, including development of an
emergency GIS data model and a prototype incident information display and
tracking application based on a GIS emergency plan previously prepared by
PlanGraphics for the city.
PlanGraphics will perform the following tasks:
-- Information collection and analysis -- to collect detailed information
on requirements
-- Requirements analysis and definition of functional requirements -- a
structured analysis to define the specific requirements for the emergency
GIS database and incident information application
-- Design of emergency GIS data model -- a preliminary logical data model
and a physical data model that will include a data dictionary
-- Design and prototype of the incident information display and tracking
application -- the prototype will contain the design and layout of the
general graphical user interface
-- Assistance to Raleigh staff in application development and
documentation -- based on the prototype, PlanGraphics' programmers will
work with Raleigh personnel in the development of the production
application
-- GIS emergency plan review and update -- PlanGraphics will review the
original GIS emergency plan that was completed in 2003. Based on this
review, PlanGraphics will recommend updates to the plan and changes in GIS
technology and emergency best practices including definition of priority
activities for continued implementation.
Executive Consultant Pete Croswell will manage the project, and Mike
Kevany, a PlanGraphics senior vice president, will have an important
participating role. Both were engaged in PlanGraphics' previous work with
the city.
