CommunicVietnam arrives in Ho Chi Minh City in October 2007, as Vietnam's ICT market reaches US$2 billion and the country looks towards ICT as an economic pillar

After 17 successful CommunicAsia shows in Singapore, CommunicVietnam will be launched at the Ho Chi Minh International Exhibition & Convention Centre (HIECC) on 3-5 October 2007.

The team behind the hugely successful CommunicAsia will lend more than 30 years of expertise in organizing global ICT and digital media technology events, to the launch of CommunicVietnam.

CommunicVietnam will showcase the latest applications and solutions in the ICT market and will provide the ideal opportunity for companies to converge and keep up to date with the newest technology this rapidly changing market has to offer.

Speaking about this exciting new event, Victor Wong, Project Director of CommunicVietnam, said, "The Vietnam ICT market has a need for a business-to-business platform that offers opportunities for networking and business deals. CommunicVietnam is therefore geared to answering this demand by bringing key players as well as small and medium ICT businesses from around the globe to Vietnam's doorstep.

"Besides providing an avenue for business discussions, the event offers an international showcase of the latest technologies, solutions and infrastructure that will enable Vietnam's technology landscape to leapfrog in 2007 and beyond."

With a telecommunications market valued at US$2 billion in 2005 and only a teledensity of 18.41 per 100 people in a country with a population of 82.5 million, the low market saturation is sure to mean that Vietnam's telecommunications sector can only increase in size. It is estimated that the number of mobile phone users in Vietnam will rise to 21 million by the year 2008.

Vietnam's economy has expanded by 50 percent in the last five years; the country has also been identified as one of the fastest growing economies in the world with a GDP growth rate of 7 percent in the 2006-2010 period, according to the Foresight 2020 report recently released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). Vietnam and the United States reached a pact on market access in late May, opening the way for Vietnam to join the WTO as early as the end of this year.

The telecommunications sector alone has grown annually by 47.8% between 2001 and 2004. In fact the Telecomm sector has been rated by the International Telecommunication Union as the second fastest-growing telecom market in the world, only after China.

With strong support expected from key international players and Vietnam's ICT community, CommunicVietnam will provide the perfect opportunity to break into the Vietnamese market.
