Crossfire War - South of Haifa Hit - Zelzal- 2 Could be Launched this Weekend

By Willard Payne

Crossfire War - TEHRAN WATCH - Middle East Theatre: Tehran - Beirut - Damascus/Jerusalem; Afula South of Haifa Hit by Khaibar - 1 Rocket - Nasrallah in Damascus with Assad - Larijani - Zelzal - 2 to be Launched During Weekend - Tel Aviv - Jerusalem in Range - Major Escalation

Night Watch: DAMASCUS- Hezbollah launched a new longer range rocket, the Khaibar - 1, that hit Afula, 10 miles south of Haifa in the Jezreel valley. It also carries a larger warhead than the Katyusha. At the same time Debka reports that in Damascus Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was attending a council of war meeting with Syria President Bashar Assad, senior Iranian National Security official Ali Larijani, Hamas leaders Khaled Meshaal, Mussa Abu Marzouk and representing the Palestinian group Jihad Islami Abdallah Ramadan Shelah. [DEBKA]

Tehran may have used this meeting to give Hezbollah the go ahead to launch their longest range rocket the Zelzal-2 which is capable of reaching Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Prompting their decision could be that Israel's Air Force has been bombing the Beqaa valley area Thursday night and Friday morning, ever since Israeli army special forces discovered Zelzal-2 rockets stored in this area in buildings with strengthened floors and walls. Though some rockets have been destroyed it is believed Hezbollah may have several dozen more. [DEBKA]
