Traverce Launches ShareWeddings.com, the First Social Networking Site for Weddings
Traverce, Inc. today announced the launch of
ShareWeddings.com, its social networking site just for weddings. The
company expects ShareWeddings to fill a void in the booming social
networking arena for a site dedicated to weddings -- one of the most social
events in peoples' lives.
"ShareWeddings is about real people sharing real stories, images and
experiences for their special day," states Traverce Chief Executive
Officer, Jim Williams. Williams is an experienced wedding industry
entrepreneur, having launched the leading do-it-yourself wedding invitation
site in 2001. "Our research shows us that the biggest thing for wedding
participants is to find out what everyone else is doing. We built
ShareWeddings to do exactly that -- give people insights into all aspects
of planning and hosting a wedding through the eyes of friends and peers."
ShareWeddings lets brides and grooms -- or anyone connected with weddings
-- browse the community, create a homepage, share stories, join groups, tag
favorites and ask questions of the community. For example, a bride-to-be
may browse photos posted by other members to get dress ideas; a couple
might create an online scrapbook; a father of the bride might ask questions
of specific groups about wedding locations, and get honest, relevant
feedback from someone who's been there; or a groom might get hot tips on
making the honeymoon unforgettable.
"We want ShareWeddings to be a living showcase of dream weddings, which is
a very personal thing. Some people have funny stories to tell, others have
romantic visions, and there are countless themes for people to explore,
including everything from Cinderella to country to beach weddings," adds
Williams.
Members are already responding favorably to the depth of content. "I showed
the site to my cousin who is getting married in August. It gave her some
wonderful ideas for her wedding," states ShareWeddings beta member, Wina
Mapili.
The company expects the site's storytelling and sharing tools to also
appeal to wedding professionals as a way to create an authentic online
presence that differs from traditional online storefronts. The company sees
social networking as a natural regulator of good business practices and
open communication with potential customers. ShareWeddings is already home
to wedding planners, photographers, florists, and venues. As with regular
members, access for businesses is free.
