On June 30, Claes Nobel Addresses High School Honor Students On UCLA Campus

The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) will hold a member event on Friday, June 30, 2006, on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles honoring outstanding high school students and educators, featuring speaker Claes Nobel, senior member of the Nobel Prize family and chair of the NSHSS Advisory Board.
Among the featured speakers at the event will be UCLA Admissions Counselor Jared Zack, Jennifer Daskevich, executive director of the National Honors Convocation in Los Angeles and Jennifer Karan, director of Kaplan’s Pre-College Program for Southern California. The keynote address will be delivered by Claes Nobel. The event will take place at 3 p.m. in the Horizon Ballroom of the Covel Commons Building.
"These honor students have already reached great heights by consistently demonstrating academic strength and community leadership, and we are proud to show our pride and support," said Nobel. "What our members are doing in their schools and in their hometowns is truly admirable, and each of them highlights the hope and the confidence we all should have in our young people."
The National Society of High School Scholars was formed in 2002 to recognize academic excellence at the high school level and to encourage members of the organization to apply their unique talents, vision and potential for the betterment of themselves and the world. Currently, the NSHSS has over 200,000 members in the United States and 19 countries representing 22,000 high schools and has awarded over $200,000 in scholarships.
