Britney Spears Dateline interview vs. So You Think You Can Dance?

Entertainment Talk with Wanda Toby

I had every intention of watching the Britney Spears interview seriously so that I may generate a good commentary on how it went. There were a couple problems with making that goal a reality. First, So You Think You Can Dance was on and it was the elimination episode. Already, I was in a predicament.

Secondly, was Brittany herself. I tune in to watch Britney talk about the paparazzi and her hubby and her baby. Unfortunately, I couldn't get past Britney. Did Dateline not inform Mrs. Mr. Spears that she had a television show to do? Or did Date Line suspend with the hair and makeup aspect of preparation for airing on national television because Brit (which I feel I can call her now, due to the way she presented herself) looked like she just rolled right out of the bed and into the interview chair. What was she thinking not acquainting herself with a comb before she went on national television?

Now, before people start bearing arms to defend Mrs. Mr. Spears, be honest and admit that there is no excuse, not even pregnancy can excuse her appearance. It was darn right distracting. Who knows why she drove off with little Federline on her lap or why the boy fell off his high chair. I couldn't get past how awful the soon to be mother looked. If the purpose of the interview was to try and make her sympathetic to the public eye, Britney failed miserably. Did her publicist not take a look at her before she decided to sit at the interview chair? I am not even going to comment on how much she has blown to the size of a parachute due to her pregnancy because I've been there. Bottom line, the girl just looked unkempt, reminiscent of a Courtney Love situation. Unfortunately, that is the extent of my take on the Dateline interview.

However, it is understood that Britney is under a lot of strain from being a new mother, a soon-to-be mother, and being a wife to her allegedly wayward husband. It is such a relief that all new mothers do not have the paparazzi flashing cameras and recording everything that they do. Quite frankly, motherhood is an enormous undertaking filled with uncertainty. New parents make mistakes. It is inevitable. Imagine if all new parents had the world watching and imparting advice. Her situation is definitely a pressure cooker. If Britney does survive it, she will come out a better, stronger person. Let's just hope that she decided to get a make over after it's all said and done. Then maybe she can compete with the So You Think You Can Dance contestants.

Now that is a show to watch. It doesn't really matter who gets voted off or not, they are all better dancers than most. They all have their own style and are great on the stage. It is the dancing, twirling, pop locking, and gyrating that makes the show worth it. The host, Cat Deely, leaves little to be desired. She makes disappointed facial expressions as if to prepare viewers and contestants for the worst even before she opens her mouth. Okay, so the point is to have people anticipate but the facial expressions just get annoying after an hour. If you love American Idol and dancing, then So You Think You Can Dance is the perfect show to watch. It is the dancing version of American Idol.
