Marco's Pizza Seeks Strategic Partners to Reach Goal of 500 Stores

Marco's Pizza, in its objective to reach 500 stores by 2010, is offering "master franchise," or more commonly known in franchising as "area agreements" to 100 entrepreneurs interested in building 20-25 of the Ah! Thentic Italian Pizza Shops and announced it has already reached 10 percent of that goal.

Jack Butorac, Jr., president of Marco's Franchising, LLC, said that through Marco's research, there remains room for more Marco's Pizza stores.

"We contracted with Map Info of New York, a firm that uses the latest technology and data to identify potential pizza sites and markets," Butorac said. "Since that time, we have opened Marco's Pizza in new markets such as Arizona, Nevada and Florida in addition to our core markets of Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. Many of those new states are the result of our area agreement program."

Marco's Pizza, currently with 155 stores, traces its roots to Italy, when its founder Italian native Pasquale "Pat" Giammarco founded the company in Toledo using family recipes. Marco's offers customers a menu of Ah! Thentic custom-made pizzas, fresh-baked subs, salads, chicken wings and soft drinks.

"Our research shows we have a good reputation for a quality product; we just need to tell more people about us," Butorac said.
