BacTech Appoints New CFO

BacTech Mining Corporation ("BacTech" or the "Company")(TSX VENTURE: BM) announced today that it has hired Louis Nagy as its Chief Financial Officer effective June 1, 2006. Mr. Nagy has more than 15 years of professional experience as a chartered accountant. During this time, he has held several senior financial positions in the consumer goods and high tech industries and is experienced with the financial reporting of a publicly listed company.

Mr. Nagy replaces Jim Kirke, who tendered his resignation effective May 31, 2006. We wish Jim success with his future endeavours and extend our appreciation for his assistance in effecting a smooth transition during our corporate restructuring.

The Company also wishes to announce that in March 2006, Moore Stephens Cooper Molyneux LLP, at the request of the Board, withdrew their November 2005 resignation as BacTech's auditors. They were subsequently engaged to, and have reported on, the Company's consolidated financial statements for the year ending December 31, 2005.

CORPORATE PROFILE

BacTech has developed and patented bacterial oxidation technology for the treatment of refractory ores and concentrates to enhance the recovery of gold, silver and base metals. BacTech has successfully commissioned three bioleach plants for gold and demonstrated its technology in the selective recovery of base metals from complex sulphide concentrates in a joint project with Industrias Penoles de C.V. of Mexico.
