Stay Awake for Summer: Don't Let Obstructive Sleep Apnea Deter Your Travel Plans
The start of the summer travel season
doesn't have to mean the end of a good night's sleep. If you have
obstructive sleep apnea, the flexibility and portability of the Everest
Integrated System CPAP featuring the industry's first rechargeable battery
allows you to remain compliant with your therapy schedule in a hotel room,
RV, boat or even a tent.
"Everest was designed with the patient in mind," said Steve Bordewick, CEO
of AEIOMed, and a former defibrillator designer for Medtronic. "Statistics
show that up to 50-percent of OSA sufferers do not use their CPAP system as
prescribed. That's because many of the systems don't fit right and are
simply not comfortable. With the perfect fit and comfort our Everest and
Headrest headgear provide, patients are going to be more compliant. That
results in a better night's sleep and better health, which are the goals
for all of us."

Smaller and lighter CPAP units have long been industry goals, and those
with active lifestyles will be glad to know AEIOMed achieves them both with
the Everest Integrated System CPAP.
Specifically, the humidifier and battery integrate completely on top of one
another via an easy-to-use docking bay that slides directly onto the bottom
of the CPAP. That means it takes up less space on your bedside, and the
entire system weighs in at only 4.5 pounds.
The mobile adapter brings increased portability to patients who have access
to a power receptacle, such as a vehicle cigarette lighter. It can run the
CPAP system with its heated humidifier at night, and then recharge the
battery during the day. If either a cigarette lighter or wall power is
unavailable or difficult to reach, the battery will also operate the CPAP
and humidifier for hours, with actual time dependent on pressure and heat
settings.
Finally, the Headrest headgear with nasal seal provides a stable and
unobtrusive interface with nothing touching the patient's face except at
the nostrils. Attaching the nasal seal to the Headrest is easy with a
simple twist and two seal sizes packaged in every kit.
"More and more people are starting to wake up to the fact that untreated
sleep apnea is serious, and that it can cause serious health problems such
as cardiovascular disease, memory problems, weight gain, impotency and
headaches," explains Holly Larkin, Senior Director of Marketing & Clinical
Affairs for AEIOmed, and a graduate of the Stanford School of Sleep.
"However, the good news is that Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)
is effective on 95-percent of patients with obstructive sleep apnea. The
units are reliable and quiet, and now are compact and portable as well.
Living an active, on-the-go lifestyle no longer means leaving your rest
behind along with your old, heavy CPAP machine that's tethered to the wall
socket."
