Virgin Mobile, Flytxt, ActiveMedia Technology Free Beer and Kebab Campaign

Virgin Mobile will work with Flytxt and ActiveMedia Technology to grow its free beer and kebab consumer mobile campaign for a third summer running starting with gigs at Carling Academy venues across the UK in May.

Underpinning its reputation as a youth lifestyle brand Virgin Mobile will offer its customers two free pints of beer and a free kebab when they attend key summer concerts and outdoor events with vouchers being delivered and redeemed via mobile phone. The popularity of last year's promotion which achieved redemption rates of 70 per cent has encouraged Virgin Mobile to extend the promotion to more venues throughout the summer.

In venue advertising will encourage Virgin customers to text the word 'beer' or 'kebab' to a designated short code to receive a mobile coupon entitling them to two free pints of beer to enjoy at the concert and a voucher to redeem at a kebab van on their way home. A unique PIN is then delivered to the consumer's handset which they type in to an ActiveMedia RAPOS terminal at the venue to receive their free coupon to be handed at the bar for free drinks.

Rosie Newey, Sponsorship and Events Manager, Virgin Mobile said, "This year Virgin Mobile will be feeding and watering even more gig goers throughout the UK! Our free beer and kebab campaign is a great way to reward customers while simultaneously reinforcing the association between Virgin Mobile, live music and good times with your mates. The campaigns are so novel that there is also a viral element to them. Customers are happy to tell their friends about it which is a great way to reinforce our reputation as a youth lifestyle brand at a grassroots level."

Ramesh Kumar, Business Development Director, ActiveMedia Technology added: "Virgin Mobile understands the youth market. It understands that well targeted promotions increase brand loyalty and are a great way to start an ongoing and very personal dialogue with customers. Mobile ticketing and vouchers are convenient, cost effective and secure. We are already seeing a sharp increase in demand for your software and predict the market will grow exponentially over the next 18 months."

Adhish Kulkarni, VP Client Services commented: "Virgin Mobile is the vanguard in mobile marketing. We're thrilled to be working with such a company for a third year running. This mobile coupon mechanic offers the consumer both convenience and a valuable reward, and provides Virgin Mobile with valuable consumer behaviour intelligence and a cost effective way of rewarding their loyal customers."

Flytxt will provide the delivery and mobile marketing technology to power the campaign while ActiveMedia Technology's mobile voucher and redemption software will be used in conjunction with its RAPOS (redemption at point of sale) terminals to print, validate and capture data from the vouchers.
