Hanley Wood Announces New Magazine, ARCHITECT
Hanley Wood, LLC, the leading
business-to-business media company, announced today the launch of a new
magazine, ARCHITECT. Scheduled to debut in October 2006, ARCHITECT's focus
will be on information critical to practicing architects, delivering
information and ideas to inspire their designs, enhance their practice,
expand their business and connect with their peers.
"ARCHITECT is the right magazine at the right time," says Peter Goldstone,
President, Magazines Division. "This launch -- and others to come -- is
Hanley Wood's response to the explosive growth in non-residential
construction. Approximately 96 billion square feet of new institutional
and commercial space will be designed and built between 2000 and 2030 -- as
much as existed in 2000." ARCHITECT magazine will launch with a companion
Web site and will be announced officially at the AIA show in June.
Joining Hanley Wood as Editor-in-Chief of ARCHITECT is Ned Cramer. For the
past four years, Cramer has served as curator of the Chicago Architecture
Foundation. Previously, he spent seven years at ARCHITECTURE magazine,
holding the title of Executive Editor when he left in 2002. He is a
graduate of Rice University's School of Architecture. Cramer will relocate
to Washington, D.C.
"I'm looking forward to creating a new publication to address the needs
that architects have defined as essential to their practice," says Cramer.
"Hanley Wood's research shows that architects clearly want a new kind of
magazine -- one is that relevant, practical and inspirational."
ARCHITECT, the new face in architecture, will join the Commercial Group of
magazines at Hanley Wood under Group Publisher Patrick J. Carroll. It will
publish twice in 2006 and monthly in 2007.
