Delaware Department of Transportation Rolls Out Mobile From Syclo
Syclo, a global leader in developing
mobile solutions, today announced that the Delaware Department of
Transportation (DelDOT) selected Syclo's SMART Work Manager application to
roll out mobile work tracking and data collection capabilities to its field
service workers. SMART Work Manager is a pre-packaged software solution
that is fully configurable and can be rapidly deployed on a number of
popular devices and using multiple communications and wireless network
options.
DelDOT is currently in the process of deploying mobile handhelds to area
yards statewide to allow crew leaders to manage work on roadways, which
includes tracking pothole patching of roadways, installation of drainage
pipes, roadway sweeping, brush cutting, preventive maintenance on
equipment, and bridge maintenance work.
"In the past, crew leaders had to use paper forms to record all crew,
equipment and materials used on the job, which would take approximately one
to two hours depending on the work they performed that day," said Brenda
Gardels, Operations Lead for the Maximo Project at DelDOT. "Completed paper
forms were then given to a clerk to enter the data into our asset
management system, which could take anywhere from 10-30 minutes and had the
potential to be error-prone. Syclo's mobile solution will not only improve
productivity on the job site as well as in the office, but will also
improve our asset management."
Syclo has been delivering mobile solutions to public works and state and
local governments for more than 10 years. Numerous organizations have
deployed the SMART Suite of mobile solutions to better manage work orders,
inventory, inspections, audits and compliance reporting.
Syclo's products are integrated with the leading CRM, ERP and EAM systems,
and built on Syclo's Agentry mobile development platform, which allows full
configurability, device and network communications flexibility and enables
multiple backend applications to be updated via a single mobile
application.
"Government organizations are increasingly deploying mobile solutions from
Syclo to increase productivity and lower overall costs," said Richard
Padula, Syclo's president and CEO. "We have noticed an increasing interest
in using mobile for improving safety and security inspections, and our
Agentry platform offers the flexibility and end-to-end security to meet
these needs. Syclo anticipates that our success with large, federal
government accounts, such as the Navy, Marines and FAA, will open the door
to a greater volume of deployments within state and local governments."
