Reverend Edward L. Taylor Named New Senior Pastor Of Emmanuel Baptist Church Of San Jose, California

The Reverend Edward L. Taylor has been named the new Senior Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church of San Jose, California, effective April 1, 2006.

The Reverend Edward L. Taylor has been named the new Senior Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church of San Jose, California, effective April 1, 2006.

Taylor is a native of Ville Platte, Louisiana. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana College and his Master of Divinity degree from New Brunswick Theological Seminary. Presently he is a Resident Graduate at Harvard University Divinity School. Pastor Taylor’s other studies include Princeton Theological Seminary, University of London’s Birbeck College, and The University of Leiden, The Netherlands. He is married to the former C. La Trice Lewis and has one son, Paul.

Pastor Taylor has worked tirelessly for the denomination and his community. Examples of his service include Associate Dean for Christian Education, General Baptist Convention of New Jersey, 1997-2000; Member, Board of Directors, National Baptist Convention of America, 1987-1989. His public service also includes serving as Chairman of the Governor’s Commission Youth for the State of Louisiana.

For all of his efforts, Pastor Taylor has received numerous honors. In January 2001, Ebony Magazine named him one of the 30 Leaders of the Future. In 2000, he was inducted into Morehouse College's Martin L. King, Jr. Board of Preachers. In 1996, he was named an Outstanding Young Man in American. And in 1997, Pastor Taylor was named Honorary Mayor of Ville Platte, Louisiana.

To his publication credits, Pastor Taylor is the compiler and editor of The Words of Gardner Taylor Volumes 1-6 (Judson Press) and editor of "Essential Taylor, Gardner C. Taylor" cassette and CD collection, Volumes I and II (Volumes III in press, Judson Press).
