Mia Hamm and Baja Fresh(R) Urge Americans to "Live Fresh"
Soccer Great Teams With Mexican-Inspired Restaurants in Campaign to Support Healthy Lifestyle With Fresh Food, Fresh Air and Fresh Thinking
Two-time Olympic gold medalist and
women's fitness advocate Mia Hamm spearheads a new initiative to encourage
families across the nation to "live fresh."
Enlisting the help of Baja Fresh Mexican Grill and her own Mia Hamm
Foundation, Hamm is encouraging kids and their families to "live fresh"
this summer by choosing fresh food, participating in fresh-air outdoor
sports and fitness activities and adopting a fresh attitude toward their
own health and well being.
Hamm officially launches the campaign May 10th with the students of a
Hollywood Elementary School, where kids can meet Hamm, kick around a soccer
ball and receive a "live fresh" tee-shirt or sports bottle.
The campaign also features a nationwide "Play Soccer with Mia Hamm"
sweepstakes, offering ten lucky kids, ages 5-17, and one parent or guardian
each an opportunity to play soccer with Mia Hamm in Los Angeles. The prize
includes round trip airfare and hotel accommodations, participation in a
soccer clinic and tickets to a Los Angeles Galaxy professional soccer game,
along with complimentary Baja Fresh meals and apparel. (Enter at any Baja
Fresh location. No purchase necessary, void where prohibited. See official
rules for details).
The Mia Hamm Foundation supports efforts aimed at increasing athletic
opportunities for women and girls. The partnership with Baja Fresh's "live
fresh" campaign provides Hamm with a broad national platform for spreading
that message, while offering opportunities to reach out to kids and
families directly on the subject of youth soccer, a subject of particular
importance to this former Team USA captain and three-time Olympic medalist.
"Fresh, healthy food is only part of the equation," Hamm said. "Living
fresh requires getting active and changing the way we think about food,
exercise and our overall health and wellness."
Mia Hamm and her friends, current U.S. National team members Heather Mitts
and Abby Wambach, will also host two soccer clinics this spring and summer
in Washington, D.C. and Phoenix, which include a demonstration of soccer
techniques, autograph signing and tips on healthy living, as part of an
initiative to encourage families to get active together.
Baja Fresh, headquartered in Thousand Oaks, Calif., operates or franchises
more than 300 restaurants nationwide, all featuring its fresh
Mexican-inspired food, made to order and served for those on the go. Learn
