The Veronicas to Hit the Road With Ashlee Simpson
Tour in Support of Aussie Pop-Rock Duo's Debut Album "The Secret Life Of..." Begins June 5th; Digital Version of First Single -- "4ever" -- Sells 100K
Pop-rock sensations and identical twin sisters
with an edgy, free-spirited sound, The Veronicas will hit the road with
Ashlee Simpson to promote the duo's debut album "The Secret Life Of..." The
tour with Simpson, which begins in Santa Barbara, Calif., June 5 will
showcase hook-laden gems from the album including the hit single "4ever,"
which has sold over 100,000 digital downloads. "The Secret Life Of..." was
released February 14th on Sire Records.
Twenty-one-year-olds Jess and Lisa Origliasso, who are originally from
Brisbane and now live in Los Angeles, co-wrote eight of the 12 tracks on
their debut album with veteran hitmakers Billy Steinberg (Madonna), Max
Martin (Britney Spears), Clif Magness (Avril Lavigne), Dr. Luke (Kelly
Clarkson), and Toby Gad (Enrique Iglesias).
Drawing from influences that include Roy Orbison and AC/DC, the girls have
an infectious mixture of bold, bright rockin' pop anchored by their unique
harmonic blend, which led Teen Vogue to call "The Secret Life Of..." "an
album that manages to be both sweet and vicious, a killer combo." After
their headlining show at New York City's Avalon in February, The New York
Post touted the show saying, "This Aussie girl group is the real thing!"
The girls have also been featured in Blender, Teen People, Interview, Paper
Magazine, and an MTV News "You Hear It First" segment, as well as singled
out as Breaker Artists by the AOL Music and Radio Networks. They've
appeared as themselves on the WB's sisterly drama "Related," as well as
singing the show's title track, and ABC Family Channel's hit series
"Beautiful People." They have also appeared on MTV's "TRL," Sessions @ AOL,
opened a string of high-profile dates for Ryan Cabrera last year and
headlined their own U.S. tour in January.
