Horse Racing's Best of the Best

In the past 100 years, horse racing has seen its share of exciting, devastating, uplifting, and groundbreaking moments, and "Horse Racing's Top 100 Moments" examines the best of the best. Richly illustrated with historic and modern photos, "Horse Racing's Top 100 Moments" also contains comprehensive lists of leading earners, fastest times, highest prices, and most races won.

Eclipse Press and The Blood-Horse magazine convened a panel of horse racing experts and historians to rank racing's greatest moments. The panelists include:

-- Edward L. Bowen, president of The Grayson-Jockey Club Foundation and
the author of seventeen books, including "Legacies of the Turf" and
biographies of Man o' War, Bold Ruler and Nashua.

-- Alice Chandler, who has raised champions and a Kentucky Derby winner
on her Mill Ridge Farm, is active in many Thoroughbred organizations.

-- Steve Haskin, the award-winning senior correspondent for The Blood-
Horse and the author of several books about horse racing, including "Holy
Grail: The Epic Quest for the Kentucky Derby."

-- Joe Hirsch, whose venerated Turf-writing career spanned five decades
and who is known as the dean of Thoroughbred racing.

-- Multiple Eclipse Award winner William Nack, a long-time writer for
Sports Illustrated and the author of "Secretariat: The Making of a
Champion," and "My Turf: Horses, Boxers, Blood Money and the Sporting
    Life."

The result is sure to invite debate, and possibly controversy, among racing fans. Written by the staff of The Blood-Horse, "Horse Racing's Top 100 Moments" is a fond tribute to the sport's finest and most significant days in the sun.

Advance praise for "Horse Racing's Top 100 Moments":

"... this book will be widely read and greatly appreciated by even the most casual fan."

-- Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day

"The writing is powerful, the photos are dramatic and the order of selection makes for one heck of a debate."

-- Tom Pedulla, USAToday

"This book could make people talk about the Secretariats of the world and the rich history of horse racing."

-- Two-time Kentucky Derby-winning trainer Nick Zito
