Helpamug.com, Two Regular Guys Asking The World For Help Towards Becoming Professional Poker Players
Two best friends have built a Web site asking the world to help them acheive their dreams of becoming professional poker players.

The site is www.helpamug.com. The "mugs", John Kirkwood and Sean Hansen of Dallas, Texas, are hoping to make the "big time" through the generosity of the fellow man. Aside from the blatant request for money, the "mugs" have put together a Web site that will pull a laugh out of even the most skeptical and cynical reader. Kirkwood and Hansen promise to send a recorded song to anyone who donates and offers comical, if ridiculous, insight into what it means to be a "mug".
"It's kind of like the guy with a sign on the entrance ramp to the freeway," says Kirkwood, one of the main mugs. "Would you be more inclined to give him a few bucks if he says he needs it for food or for beer? At least the guy asking for beer is being honest about it."
The mugs have been playing poker part-time for the past two years, and have had some success. "I won a tournament online last month with over 1,900 players in it," says Hansen. "But the money was gone for bills as soon as it came in. I'm sure never going to get rich at my day job and neither is John. We're pretty good at poker, No Limit Texas Holdem in particular. It's a tough game to make money at, and now that we've gotten to the point that we can do so consistently, the only missing ingredient is a bankroll. At the rate we're at though, we'd probably be too old to see the cards by the time we saved enough money to quit our jobs and go for it, and definitely too old to hit on the cocktail waitresses at the casino."
The mugs are hoping the world will be sympathetic enough or at least amused enough to toss them a dollar or two. Among these two guys’ reasons for needing help are "the man" is keeping them down,” the “rising cost of beer” and “mean women who take our money and leave us brokenhearted".
The mugs hope to donate a portion of the winnings from poker to their churches, and to open a free music studio where they can help other "mugs" record music. More information is available at www.helpamug.com.
