Protest Notification, a Little Word to all Our Elected Representatives
By Kim du Toit
Here's a little word to all our elected representatives, state and federal:
In the past week or so, you will have seen coverage of thousands of people protesting against your legislation aimed at curbing illegal immigration. It may even be that you or some of your fellow legislators have been cowed by these same demonstrations into withdrawing, moderating or ameliorating your legislation.
Allow me to give you notice of another couple of demonstrations. These will take place in November 2006, and November 2008. During those demonstrations, I and many others will protest against any legislators who have succumbed to this appeasement of illegal immigrants, by the simple, quiet and non-violent protest of voting against the appeasers, and for the legislators who had the courage, statesmanship and patriotism to do the right thing.
Lest anyone is unclear as to what constitutes "the right thing", let me spell it out for you.
- Secure our nation's borders. (Start with the southern border - we're not being overrun by Canadians.)
- Strengthen the agencies responsible for curbing illegal immigration.
- Prosecute and/or deport illegal immigrants.
- Enforce existing immigration law by prosecuting employers who hire illegal immigrants.
We citizens do not often protest against our legislators, but on this subject we will make an exception. Do not think for one moment that our silence implies consent. We are simply waiting to see which legislators are the ones worthy of keeping, and the ones which need to be tossed out of office. Your replacements will have a serious mandate to do our bidding. (Actually, you have that mandate already, and failure to exercise it will result in your removal from office at the end of this year and in 2008.)
Now you know.
