Israeli Elections 2006: A Success Story

One of the top reasons the U.S. public supports Israel is because Israel is a democracy where its citizens enjoy all the freedoms of their Western counterparts, such as freedom of religion and speech, a free press and the right for men and women to vote.

On March 28, millions of people around the world saw Israel's democracy at work. From India to Switzerland and beyond, broadcast and print outlets gave plenty of attention to Israel's election: A search of Google News during the past month turned up 16,800 news stories about the election. There were another 8,410 hits for stories that contained both the words "Israel" and "democracy" or the words "Israel" and "democratic."
