Biscom Connector Lets Users Scan and Send Secure Document "Packages" From Office Copier
Connector Integrates Biscom FileMarshal With eCopy ShareScan OP
eCopy Paper Connection Forum -- Biscom
today announced a new connector for its FileMarshal secure document
delivery product that enables any eCopy ShareScan OP-enabled multifunction
peripheral (MFP) to scan documents directly into FileMarshal secure
"packages" and schedule them for delivery.
Once the document is scanned directly into a secure FileMarshal package,
the user can then schedule delivery of the package to one or more
recipients with access to the Internet. The user also can password protect
the scanned document, schedule a delivery time, set an expiration time, and
send an e-mail notification to the recipient to notify them of availability
of the package. When the recipient receives the e-mail, the recipient is
given instructions on how to securely obtain the document. A complete audit
trail of the posting and access of the document is managed by FileMarshal,
which the package sender, or an auditor, can view with an Internet browser.
"Our customers have been asking us for a way to send documents securely,"
said Phil Ly of TIC Software, a FileMarshal reseller. "We've found that
FileMarshal gives our customers the benefits of secure document delivery
with a complete audit trail. We're excited at the interest that FileMarshal
has generated with our customers."
FileMarshal provides a complete solution for managing the delivery of
secure documents, without the limitations of e-mail or FTP. FileMarshal is
unburdened with the file size limitations that are typical of e-mail. It
also offers greater security and tracking capabilities than either e-mail
or FTP.
"Companies in industries such as financial services and healthcare are
under pressure to provide an audit trail of their communications with
outside parties in order to satisfy regulatory authorities," said Bill Ho,
vice president of Internet Products at Biscom. "The FileMarshal Connector
for eCopy ShareScan OP makes it easy for office workers to walk up to an
MFP and send a document securely as easily as sending e-mail."
According to Edward Schmid, eCopy president and CEO, "By using eCopy's
software developers kit, Biscom has provided their customers with the
capability to use the ubiquitous office copier to incorporate paper
documents into their secure document delivery system. Through the
development of a single Connector, Biscom was able to eliminate the need
for education, design and testing on multiple copier brands."
Partnered with eCopy for over ten years, Biscom currently offers the FAXCOM
Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP, which affords office users with the same
walk-up and use simplicity of a fax machine, while providing enterprises
with sophisticated fax server capabilities at the back-end, such as least
cost routing, archiving, pre-transmission approval and audit trails.
