Connector Software Enables Any Office Worker to Scan Documents Directly From Copier to Hyland's OnBase Enterprise Content Management Software Suite

eCopy, Inc., a leading provider of solutions that integrate paper documents into enterprise software applications, and Hyland Software, Inc., developer of the OnBase enterprise content management (ECM) software suite, today announced the OnBase Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP. The software enables organizations to dramatically improve the utility of their ECM repositories by enabling any office worker to easily scan and index documents into OnBase directly from a network-attached copier.

OnBase is a suite of ECM applications that combines document imaging, electronic document management, COLD/ERM, workflow, records management, collaboration, and e-mail archiving in a single application. eCopy ShareScan OP software transforms copiers into easy to use information hubs so that hardcopy documents can be scanned directly into the electronic workflows of critical business processes.

"eCopy complements OnBase software by making it easy for office workers to bring paper-based information into their daily business operations," said Bill Priemer, Chief Operating Officer of Hyland Software. "This is important because the best place to scan a document is at the start of the business process. eCopy makes this effortless and helps organizations better leverage their investments in digital multifunction copiers, which are rapidly growing in numbers across every organization."

The OnBase Connector safeguards document security by reflecting individual user permissions at the copier to protect against unauthorized use. It also provides a complete audit trail of all document scanning and distribution processes, which is a critical requirement for organizations that store sensitive information in OnBase repositories for regulatory compliance.

The software leverages native application programming interfaces (APIs), transforming eCopy ShareScan OP into a client of the OnBase server at the copier. With this approach, set up and administration are as simple and fast as they would be with any other OnBase client on the network, minimizing IT resource demands.

The OnBase Connector supports Canon, Gestetner, HP, Ricoh, Savin, Sharp, and Toshiba digital copiers and many TWAIN supported document scanners. The application was developed using eCopy's software developers kit, which provides access to eCopy APIs and a GUI-interface generator that enables developers to easily create screens that match the look and feel of those used by major copier brands or eCopy ScanStation OP.

"Most companies have the 'tale of two workflows'-one, fast moving electronic workflow, followed by a slower, paper-bound workflow," said Vickie Malis, vice president of Marketing at eCopy. "eCopy Connectors bridge this gap and enable organizations to move all their information at Internet speed to improve productivity across the enterprise."

The OnBase Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP is now available from Hyland Software. To purchase the Connector or for more information, please contact an OnBase authorized solution provider or visit www.onbase.com.
