Guster to Release "Ganging Up On The Sun" on June 20th
Eco-Friendly "Campus Consciousness" Tour Begins March 22
Reprise Records will release "Ganging Up On The
Sun" from indie-rock favorites Guster on June 20th.
"Ganging Up On the Sun" is the Boston-bred quartet's fifth studio-album and
is the follow-up to 2003's beloved "Keep It Together." Guster, which now
includes Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist Joe Pisapia as a full-time
member alongside singer/guitarist Ryan Miller, singer/guitarist Adam
Gardner, and percussionist Brian Rosenworcel, produced half of the songs on
the forthcoming album. These songs were recorded at Nashville's Sound
Emporium and completed at Pisapia's home studio, Ivy League, from January
to April 2005. "We wanted to prove that we could pull off these recordings
on our own," says Rosenworcel. "We also played a lot of wiffle ball and
made a lot of marinara sauce. It was like hiding away with your
band-family for a few months." The other songs were produced by Ron
Aniello and recorded at the famed secluded mountaintop studio Allaire in
Shokan, New York. Aniello has previously worked with Guster on their last
album, "Keep It Together."
Overall, "Ganging Up On the Sun" retains the unconventional, melodic pop
craftsmanship and flawless harmonies that have garnered Guster one of the
most devoted fan followings in the country, but the new album has more of a
classic rock feel. The influence of the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, the
Band, Fleetwood Mac, and the Beatles can be heard throughout. "We really
just tried to write an album of great songs that feel good to play," says
Rosenworcel. "We're pretty open-minded stylistically."
