Invisible CareGiver Innovations, LLC Complies With Home Bed Mobility Product And New FDA Guidelines
BELLEVUE, Wash. (EWORLDWIRE) Mar 16, 2006
Invisible Caregiver Innovations, LLC (ICGI), an education and innovation company focusing on "Dignified Tools for Aging in Place," supports and is a member of the Hospital Bed Safety Workgroup (HBSW). The FDA just released its new guidelines, "Hospital Bed System Dimensional and Assessment Guidance to Reduce Entrapment."
ICGI is bringing to the market a new bed mobility tool, Outta Bed(TM), for home beds, using the FDA guidelines. A tool unique to anything else on the market today. ICGI believes it is important to understand the big picture to best serve its clients with new innovations. The company strives to put a "human factors" into all its work.
Although, ICGI’s focus is in home-based products, it is clear that home side rails pose the same hazards. Current products used for bed mobility in the home are smaller forms of side rails and are considered by CMS to be "least restrictive restraints," meaning they restrict free movement and are not easily removable. By those standards, Outta Bed does just the opposite by encouraging free movement and is easily removable by anyone. It is also multi-functional and adjusts to the user.
Falls from beds are the second leading cause of injury-related deaths according to the National Safety Council and a "critical public health problem among the elderly." Falls are costing us over $20 billion a year in medical expenses. The elderly deserve to know what they can do for bed safety, bed mobility and fall prevention before they lose their independence and dignity.
