Many athletes think they are healthy because of their physical appearance. However, there is an increasing number of athletes who are not well because they lack nutrients. Marilyn D. Fitzgerald, a competitive athlete for over two decades, thought she was well after beating the battle of emotional eating, but years later learned she had a life threatening health challenge called Candida, an over-growth of bacteria in the body. “I was dying on the inside and did not know it,” said Fitzgerald.

Some of the causes of Candida include heavy consumption of sugar products, suppressed negative emotions and stress. Candida has many symptoms and most athletes and people don’t know they have it.
